Singer/songwriter David Simon writes and performs catchy pop-esque songs all of which are underpinned by highly skilled musicianship and honest and emotional performances.

David's material is firmly located under the 'pop' umbrella, although his songs are infused with jazz, soul and rock flavours which means audiences are treated to a feast of musical variety!

Sitting alongside his mainly upbeat numbers are some beautiful, heartbreaking ballads too. The common feature is songs full of hooks with tunes that stick in your head from the first hearing.

David's wistful and emotionally charged vocals glide over the rhythms and he is a compelling performer to watch and hear.

Now a writer, performer and teacher, David continues to aspire to greater things, and is now beginning to turn heads with his unique ability to fuse genres and astound audiences with his performances.

Every Monday night the “Brasserie Toulouse Lautrec” presents a showcase for London’s brightest jazz talent. The house quartet warms things up from 8pm, the jam session starts in earnest at 9.30pm and we keep on swinging all the way through to 'round midnight'.

Musicians get to play with a top-flight international rhythm section; listeners get to enjoy tomorrow’s big names today - for free. We’ve even had the occasional star drop by, incognito...

Sometimes it sounds like a miniature big band, sometimes it's a cool bossa group or a fiery blues and funk session. It’s friendly and informal, and you never know quite what you’re going to get. That’s jazz! And that’s why we enjoy hosting this session. Come down and join in the fun.

Bob Stuckey – Jazz Pianist/Singer from 8pm

”A Velvet Voice with a Touch of Soul”


Whether singing a ballad, a driving swing number or fiery Latin piece Bob Stuckey brings out the unique qualities of the great jazz songs. Bob's sensitive piano touch makes the instrument come alive reflecting his early days as pianist for the English National Ballet.

Bob has recently released a critically acclaimed album "Night time is the right time" of early recordings featuring his Hammond playing typical of the legendary all-night sessions at Ronnie Scott’s Old Place in the swinging sixties.

Now known more as a vocalist Bob loves to probe the interaction between words, melody, rhythm and harmony, changing the mood from quiet and reflective to a hard driving pulse.

North of the river he runs a monthly session at the Vortex which Time out has desribed as a "high-quality jazz open mic for aspiring vocal talents everywhere".

Joy Ellis – Singer / Pianist

“The Wanderlust Jazz Singer Pianist”

NEW RESIDENCY ACT

Joy Ellis is a jazz pianist and vocalist based in London, England.

Since appearing on the scene in 2003 Joy has performed in the UK & Europe, the USA and Southeast Asia as well as on some of the most beautiful cruise ships in the world such as the Queen Mary 2.

She achieved a Masters in Jazz Performance at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in July 2008. Through the Guildhall she performed with Christine Tobin, Pete Churchill, Nikki Iles, Scott Stroman and Martin Speake. Prior to that she studied at Middlesex University learning the piano with Nikki Iles, Malcolm Edmonstone and Gareth Williams.

Her main project of the moment is her jazz quartet, Georgetown. The band have been performing on the cruise ship Celebrity Equinox over the summer of 2010 where they got a fantastic response from guests and cruise ship staff alike.

Georgetown released a CD entitled 1st album called Wanderlust and the latest being Passepartout release in Spring 2011.

Joy also just returned from the USA where Georgetown recorded another CD including a couple more original tunes and this is due for release in the Spring of 2011 so watch this space...

Jason Baxter – Singer Pianist from 8pm

The Boogie Woogie Singer Pianist


Critically acknowledged as Britain’s finest blues and boogie pianist Jason Baxter has been immersed in music from birth. As a solo artist Jason Baxter mixes virtuoso driving barrelhouse boogie woogie with an authentic down-home blues piano style, reflecting influences from Albert Ammons, Memphis Slim and Otis Spann through to Jools Holland.

This is flavoured with refreshing and rhythmic Dr John/Professor Longhair-inspired New Orleans material and cool, classy Gene Harris/ Ramsey Lewis jazz-blues grooves, excellent original material and his soulful bluesy voice set him apart as an exceptional performer.

He has a rare technical and musical ability to produce sustained and inspired keyboards work across the whole spectrum of the blues genre. Whether performing standards or his excellent original material, Jason is commonly recognised as an outstanding keyboards talent and a boogie woogie pianist without parallel.

Jason’s unbelievable stamina and vast repertoire does not go unnoticed as demand for his performances has led to a number of appearances from the annual Glastonbury to the Jazz and Blues Festival. To meet demand for different variations in his music, he has thrown in a bit of soul funk into his repertoire.

The Jazz in Paris Project – French Jazz Singer & Guitarist Duo

French-American Jazz Classics

The Jazz In Paris Project is fronted by French-American singer Eve Buigues and Scottish guitarist Kevin Glasgow, accompanied by a line up of outstanding musicians. As entertaining as they are unique, the Jazz In Paris Project bring you an exciting new sound with their original French adaptations of familiar standards such as Night And Day, All Of Me, and Body & Soul, their renditions of traditional French classics like Edith Piaf's La Vie En Rose, and their interpretation of well-known pop tunes such as The Eurythmics' quintessential Sweet Dreams.

To the likes of Madeleine Peyroux and Dianne Reeves, Eve Buigues' unique jazz and R&B stylings make for an inspiring set of music. A former Los Angeles resident, she is known for her singing work on various American TV series, films, and major artists albums. A prolific songwriter, she recorded three full-length albums with LA band Jariya, and the soundtrack for several feature films.
She is a graduate of Berklee School of Music in Boston, US.

Kevin Glasgow has been an active member of the Scottish jazz scene for the last seven years, performing with the likes of international artists such as Joe Locke, Tony Monaco, Clarke Tracy, Dave OHiggins, and the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra. Kevin has also performed at a variety of prestigious venues, including the Glastonbury Festival, the Glasgow International Jazz and Blues Festival, the Edinburgh Jazz Festival, and Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club.

Singer and multi-instrumentalist Paul Vialard performs with heart and passion a wide repertoire of French chansons in an intimate yet theatrical way.
A graduate from Rennes’ National Conservatory of Music and from the Royal College of Music in London, French baritone, songwriter, guitarist, cellist, flute player and pianist Paul Vialard also trained as an actor and clown. He has developed his own personal style and repertoire of classical French chansons and also writes his own compositions that will take you through his strange and enchanting universe.

Mario Lee is an extraordinarily talented accordionist and Bayan player who has entertained audiences with his dazzling display of virtuosity. His glittering career has seen Mario performing for HRH the Queen Mother and members of the Royal Family & four years working in hotels and restaurants both here in England and abroad. He’s played at Weddings; performed in cabaret; special events; functions, cruises and theme nights - German, French, Russian, Cockney to name but a few! An undoubted master of his craft and something a bit different for your event.

Valentin Barray started playing the piano at the age of five. He has performed classical music both in solo and with orchestra. He has been laureate of the foundation Andree Levarey and he won 1st prize in the Raynaud-Zhurfhu Competition which awarded the best musician from all French Conservatories in 2009. Valentin is currently in his 4th year of a Bachelor of Music course at the Royal College of Music.

Rising star Gabrielle Ducomble is rapidly putting her sophisticated Gallic stamp on the London scene. Technically gifted and artistically at home in styles ranging from contemporary Jazz and Latin standards to French popular song, she has performed in many leading London nightspots in addition to touring and television appearances.

Gabrielle became a household name in France when in 2003 she reached the final of French "Pop Idol" and went on to shoot a video and record a single and album with BMG France that went double gold.

Her debut jazz album "J'ai Deux Amours" on MGP Records features Gabrielle’s own arrangements of American and French jazz standards, in collaboration some of Europe’s finest musicians including Christian Garrick and Nicolas Meier.

Helen Hamer trained at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA) where she studied Acting with Performing Arts.

Since graduating in 2002, she has toured the country with several different theatre companies, including several tours with Cragrats, Louisa in The Sound Of Music (West Yorkshire Playhouse), Starting Here, Starting Now, (Edinburgh Fringe Festival), Leading Lady in A Night At The Music Hall (Tour), Over The Rainbow (National no.1 tour).

Helen began playing instruments and singing from a very young age, as one of the 4th generation of a family of actors and musicians. She plays the piano and the flute and her singing styles cross through from folk, country, to folk-pop and musical theatre She likes to sing popular, familiar songs in her own style, accompanying herself on the piano.

Bernie Clarke – Pianist/Singer from 8pm

”Dr John Meets Tom Waits”


Bernie Clarke is a singer / pianist / guitarist & songwriter who play in the ‘New Orleans’,
“Good Time Jazz” style.

He has been a session keyboard player with a wide range of bands including ‘The Hollies’, ‘Manfred Mann’ and ‘Edwyn Collins’ to name a few. He produced ‘Aztec Camera’ (including their hit single OBLIVIOUS) and other bands through the 80’s.)

Also during the 90’s and the ‘naughty’s (2000+) he formed the Jazz band ‘LUSH LIFE’ who became the house band at The Café De Paris when it re-opened. LUSH LIFE played all the London Jazz venues from ‘Ronnie Scotts’ to the “Vortex’.
Other venues included ‘Quaglinos’ and other Conran venues, ‘The Café Royal’ and ‘The Waldorf’ as well as touring around England.

Tim Stone & Special Guest – Eclectic Blues Guitarist with Special Guest Percussionist from 9pm

21st Century Swampy Blues Man from the Hackney Marshes


Tim Stone took up the guitar seriously in the one and only true summer of love. Over a long and extremely varied career, he has worked as a guitarist with this lot and quite a few others.

As a writer for TV and radio he produced music for adverts (clients such as Cadbury, Green Giant, Kelloggs, Marks and Sparks and numerous others), wrote music for hit show Friends and did several channel 4 and 5 and BBC series.
Tim has also done a lot of teaching, including stints at the Guildhall, The Royal Academy of Music and ACM.

Difford and Tilbrook from Squeeze, Eddie Reader, Rick Wakeman (also getting the opportunity to record alongside the great, great Chaka Khan on a track), Melanie, Alan Price, John Stevens, legendary free jazzer (This one presented opportunities to gig with Phil Collins and play and record a few times with absolute hero John Martyn), Simon Cowell (co writing and producing a track for the mega mogul) Jigsaw, Boyzone, German star Marius Westernhagen, Phil Gould, the funk behind Level 42, Isaac Guillory - Acoustic guitarist who was another early hero. Tim says he is the first guy he ever saw play with the little finger of his picking hand and has been doing the same cver since. A hugely missed inner circle friend!

At Toulouse Lautrec, he occasionally pairs up with talented accordionist Mario Lee and virtuoso pianist Valentin Barray, to present his own compositions that will take you through his strange and enchanting universe.

Mario Lee is an extraordinarily talented accordionist and Bayan player who has entertained audiences with his dazzling display of virtuosity. His glittering career has seen Mario performing for HRH the Queen Mother and members of the Royal Family & four years working in hotels and restaurants both here in England and abroad. He’s played at Weddings; performed in cabaret; special events; functions, cruises and theme nights - German, French, Russian, Cockney to name but a few! An undoubted master of his craft and something a bit different for your event.

Valentin Barray started playing the piano at the age of five. He has performed classical music both in solo and with orchestra. He has been laureate of the foundation Andree Levarey and he won 1st prize in the Raynaud-Zhurfhu Competition which awarded the best musician from all French Conservatories in 2009. Valentin is currently in his 4th year of a Bachelor of Music course at the Royal College of Music.

Bernie Clarke – Pianist/Singer from 8pm

”Dr John Meets Tom Waits”

Bernie Clarke is a singer / pianist / guitarist & songwriter who play in the ‘New Orleans’,
“Good Time Jazz” style.

He has been a session keyboard player with a wide range of bands including ‘The Hollies’, ‘Manfred Mann’ and ‘Edwyn Collins’ to name a few. He produced ‘Aztec Camera’ (including their hit single OBLIVIOUS) and other bands through the 80’s.)

Also during the 90’s and the ‘naughty’s (2000+) he formed the Jazz band ‘LUSH LIFE’ who became the house band at The Café De Paris when it re-opened. LUSH LIFE played all the London Jazz venues from ‘Ronnie Scotts’ to the “Vortex’.
Other venues included ‘Quaglinos’ and other Conran venues, ‘The Café Royal’ and ‘The Waldorf’ as well as touring around England.

Every Monday night the “Brasserie Toulouse Lautrec” presents a showcase for London’s brightest jazz talent. The house quartet warms things up from 8pm, the jam session starts in earnest at 9.30pm and we keep on swinging all the way through to 'round midnight'.

Musicians get to play with a top-flight international rhythm section; listeners get to enjoy tomorrow’s big names today - for free. We’ve even had the occasional star drop by, incognito...

Sometimes it sounds like a miniature big band, sometimes it's a cool bossa group or a fiery blues and funk session. It’s friendly and informal, and you never know quite what you’re going to get. That’s jazz! And that’s why we enjoy hosting this session. Come down and join in the fun.

Scott Bramley – Contemporary Singer Pianist from 8pm

”Sing us a song you’re the piano man”


Scott Bramley is an accomplished singer, pianist, musical director, educator and arranger. Performing professionally since 2003, he has travelled the world playing onboard cruise ships for Sun Cruises and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. Since returning to the UK in 2006 Scott has appeared at venues across the
country both as a solo singer pianist and with his band.

Fresh on the London scene, Scott hails from Yorkshire where he has held residencies at Choice Bar and Restaurant in Manchester and The Sands Venue in Gainsborough where he has supported artists including Acker Bilk, Stacey Kent, Frank Carson and Orville!

Drawing inspiration from many artists and genres, Scott is most at home in a piano bar setting, with an extensive repertoire ranging from the swing and jazz standards of the 30s and 40s through to present day chart material.

As a music educator Scott has been running brass and percussion workshops in various primary schools in and around his hometown of Doncaster as part of Doncaster Music Service’s ‘Wider Opportunities’ initiative aimed at developing whole class musical tuition.

Scott took up the baton in 2010 as musical director for Doncaster Amateur Operatic Society’s centenary production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and led the company again for their 2011 production of The Hot Mikado.
